BLUEBERRIES

We blueberry every year, always the week of fourth of july. But due to the recent extreme heat wave, the blueberry farm lost the last of their harvest and ended the season early. Super sad to miss out this year, but thought the next best thing would be to share last years trip that somehow never ended up on here. Such a treat to dig up these pictures, Graham's baby cheeks are killing me.

It was Graham's first time. He has a lot to learn from the two cousins below who are seasoned pros.

 Experience comes with the knowledge that the berries are sweet and juicy right off the plant...

we had to beg them to keep some in their buckets to take home!

And had to offer the owners payment for an empty pint, since we estimated that much to be in their two bellies!

They of course kindly declined the offer beacuse they are the sweetest bunch!
And had us just pay for what was in our buckets. We just love you Temecula Berry Company!

As the house is quiet during naptime and I'm on here loading pictures,

I've got a bowl of these cold, washed blueberries on the desk with me.

We actually may need to take a second trip over this year because

breakfast, lunch, snack, and dessert... the berries are going fast!

weekend recap

Friday: Mama's night out! Glee concert with my best friend and fellow high school band nerd.

Saturday: BBQ picnic for my sister's 26th birthday. We have a lot of birthdays around here. :)

Sunday: Annual blueberry picking trip! And peach picking and BBQ back at Jeff's parents house.

Monday: Memorial Day. Jeff off work! And us off to the San Diego Zoo.

We are non-stop. Always. And we like it that way.
Now on to the next weeked!
Which is just a short week away. :)

Before I go, I thought I'd leave you with a little something yummy and little something pretty.

Remember all those blueberries?

When we weren't eating them by the handfuls, their juicy sweetness made for some yummy muffins.

We've also been eating a lot of oven roasted, brown sugar peaches, a la mode. Um yeah, yum.

We celebrated my niece's FIRST birthday today!

And I made her this. And the inspiration came from here.

I have a love/hate relationship with embroidering...

love to do it, hate that the perfectionist in me is never satisfied.

But I love this one, and so far Violet has gotten all my best work. :)

I am grabbing whatever thread I have left to bring a little project for the long car ride we'll be startin' tomorrow. :)
