one last thing to leave you with

Before I go, I thought I'd leave you with a little something yummy and little something pretty.
Remember all those blueberries?
When we weren't eating them by the handfuls, their juicy sweetness made for some yummy muffins.
We've also been eating a lot of oven roasted, brown sugar peaches, a la mode. Um yeah, yum.
..........

Now, here's the pretty...

We celebrated my niece's FIRST birthday today!
And I made her this. And the inspiration came from here.
I have a love/hate relationship with embroidering...
love to do it, hate that the perfectionist in me is never satisfied.
But I love this one, and so far Violet has gotten all my best work. :)
I am grabbing whatever thread I have left to bring a little project for the long car ride we'll be startin' tomorrow. :)

Now... see you in 2 weeks!

moving

I'm quietly making these felt fish during Ewan's nap
when I really should be packing!

We're moving! Again. :)
.
This ups our moving total now to:
6 rentals,
in 6 years,
in 5 different socal cities!
.
So, while we're moving out and settling in and transferring utility services...
I'll be going dark on here and FB for a while.
.
Now, time for me to get back to packing up the gypsy wagon to hit the road on Friday.
See you all soon!

polaroid valentines

Sewed felt ones, that is.

Each one unique and special in it's own way.
Translation: no pattern = lots of flaws and variation.
And made with lots of love.
Translation: made with lots and lots and lots of love!
.......
Happy Valentine's Day!
xoxo

Dough Play

.
Ewan and I made Play-doh today! Super fun, super easy.
.
The recipe...
1/2 flour
1/4 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 tablespoon oil
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
.
Stir everything together in a pot on low heat until it turns into a ball of dough. That's it. Then divide to mix in different food coloring. Safe to eat, though I don't recommend it... salty! And the recipe even works without cream of tartar... apparently I'm out. :)
.
Found the recipe from this Simple Mom blogpost...

Getting excited...

Working on some last details for Ewan's party,
including his handmade-by-mommy birthday shirt!
.But I had to stop...

I just couldn't resist his cuteness on the floor!

Mama Sews

I recently got the sewing bug and wanted to try to whip up some cute boy clothes. My mom used to sew adorable baby clothes for me, and I wanted to do the same for Ewan. Here is my first try...
.
I sewed summer shorts for Ewan out of Jeff's old button down. I went to work late at night while the little man was sleeping...

TA-DAH!

Click HERE for baby pants pattern. The video was really helpful.
And click HERE for the baby girl version... how to turn a button down into a dress!
.
Now, I did not sew this, but isn't it beautiful?! Ewan just got it and I'm in love with it! I happen to know a sweet French family that travels to Paris alot and is very generous with special treats for us. :)
